The club was busy on the evening of Tuesday, March 5...
Mark Lukowich, Adam Flatt, Ty Dilello, Sean Flatt, Ryan Wiebe once again presented the best on-ice try-curling experience anywhere. The smiles and compliments from the 30 or more newbies were testament to how welcoming our hosts were.
Kaitlyn Lawes and Kristin MacCuish not only came down and mingled with the attendees, answered whatever questions they received - they generously donated autographed game jerseys for our attendance draw.
Mike McEwen was at the Brier but he donated an autographed game jersey (with the correct provincial colours.. *ahem*) for our attendance draw.
TransCanada Brewery and John Batiuk of Southern Glazer's Wine and Spirits provided copious samples of their beverages, and also both donated many prizes towards our participation draws.
Our restaurant, A&V, donated to our attendance draw.
Photographer Carla Buelow ( https://www.carlabuelowphotography.com/ ) not only took many pictures of the event (that we still are figuring out how best to display), but she was also responsible for bring out 2 dozen of the people in attendance, most of whom tried curling for the first time.
A special shout out to Ariel Boughen, Glen Tobie and Reed Winstone for recruiting some potential future curlers, and taking the time to show up to help welcome them!
We had our regular MC Cam Barth run the prize draws in his own unique style. His elbow injury may prevent him participating in curling and hockey, but it does not stop him from talking.
Club Manager Dennis Sworyk did another typically solid job of promoting, organizing, setting up, and running the event.
Several of our loyal members showed up to support both Watch and Try events - I won't list them all, but there were more than one MacDonell or Carson roaming around.
And the band Matlock, although playing in a curling club venue for the first time, put on a great set of cover songs and their own originals.
To sum it up - this evening was a lot of fun.
Thanks to all that participated, attended, donated, and assisted!
